The printhead cables have to be changed when head cables get dirty, bent or stripped, otherwise printheads will misfire or stop working altogether - if you do not change these printhead cables and then this dirty, bent or stripped printhead cables will cost you thousands dollars. Printhead cables will short out the printhead or worse, cause damage to the expensive Head Board or Carriage Board. If any damage (bent connector, dirty leads, even the slightest nick to the cable), the printhead cables have to be changed out the cable immediately. It's much cheaper to replace printhead cables than to deal with a broken head board or printhead!
