The instruction for the change from OCE, Xerox and Agfa GSU to mutoh
- The previous recommendations to change from Agfa OCE Xerox to Mutoh.
Is very important that the printer has a firmware version 2.09 or 2.11 for a RockHopper 2/ Agfa GUS eco solvent or 2.04 or higher for a RH3 - SpitFire / Agfa GSU AM.
You can check the firmware version in the Menu "Version Check" that normally is the last one in the panel control of the machine (7 of 7).
This procedure explains the way to convert a Mutoh printer in an Agfa or an Agfa printer in a Mutoh printer but used also to convert any other printer manufactured by Mutoh (as can be Xerox or an OCE) in a Mutoh or Agfa printer, thinking that in this situation we will not have the opportunity to reconvert another time the printer to his original configuration if we don't have the corresponding code. We can convert with the instructions included from Agfa to Mutoh or in the opposite way without problems.
The activation of the code menu is a little tricky and some times need some tries to open it right. - Steps to do
- Activation of the code menu
Power on the printer with the main power button- Press the "up arrow" key when the first line of text start to appear (Keep the key push).
Press the "F1" key when the second line of the text start to appear. (Keep the keys push)
Press the "down arrow" key when the third line of the text start to appera. (Keep the keys push until you listen 3 short beeps)
The special code screen activation is now open. You can release the 3 keys after the beeps and you will see this menu
- If this code does not have appear and the printer make this normal startup sequence wait until it finish, power off the printer and start again from steps i to v.
- Introduction of the special code.
We will use the keys [F1], [F2], [F3] and [F4] to introduce the code
The code activation screen is active
Introduce the code. To go from Agfa to Mutoh introduce code ****. To go Mutoh to Agfa ****
When you have introduced the four codes press "Enter" to confirm.
If the code is accepted a new screen will appear telling us now the new brand of the printer. Now power down and power up the printer with the main poer button to confirm the change. - Now the printer will only recognise the chips of the brand that we have indicated.
- As comment we can use this way to convert any brand to Mutoh or Agfa but there is not a way to reconfigure the printer again as his original configuration (unless you know the corresponding code).
